The patrol challenge is a super fun scavenger hunt for scouts.  On June 22, a few of our members headed off to Ventura to find our first set of clues! We had a successful day! We will still be visiting Ojai, a college campus, and exploring a few haunted sites.  Contact Annika if you’re interested in joining the challenge.  There are still a few spots available.

Venturing Crew 288 will be at Philmont Scout Ranch for a 12-day backpacking trek from July 20 – August 5.  Go Crew!

 

To celebrate the start of summer, Crew 288 went on a hike in Deukmejian Park for our June 13th meeting.  We had a great view of the foothills!

Come to our Open House on Thursday, May 23 from 7-8pm.  We will be hosting an evening of food, fun, excitement, information, and games! Venturing is for all teens ages 14-20 looking for adventure, leadership, personal growth, and service. We hope you will join us.

* This is an intermediate backpacking event, it’s not for beginners.  Although it is a Philmont training hike, it is open to all Crew members.  We’ll find an alternative location if the river is still too high!

Please note that our day hike this weekend will be postponed again due the heavy rain forecast.  We’ll post a new date once it is determined.

Our January ski trip was a blast!  We fit in a whole day of skiing and snowboarding, a few walks, a bunch of games, and even a polar bear plunge. Crew members even made a large Italian dinner and a big breakfast for all.

On December 31, the crew grabbed the corner of Raymond and Colorado in Pasadena for a Rose Parade campout.  We explored around time, played games, and joined in all the fun!  The next morning we had front row seats for the parade.  It was agreed this should be a repeat event.

Sadly, our holiday party is canceled this year.  It is just too difficult for us to find a date that works.  I hope you will join us for our Rose Parade Campout on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.  We will be celebrating the holiday season!  This event is subject to change due to poor weather, so make sure you are signed up for to get event communication.  Contact trek leader Ella Cartnal at ecartnal@gmail.com for more information.

CicLAvia is this upcoming Sunday 12/2 from 8:30am to about 3:30pm.  This is a super fun LA event and we’d love all crew members to join us with this event.  If you are interested in attending, contact our trek leader and crew president, Ella Cartnal, at ecartnal@gmail.com for the exact meetup time and location.

Bring money for the metro and lunch (there are food trucks) as well as water and a snack for if you get hungry while riding around.  Don’t forget your bike lock & helmet!  Wear your gray crew shirt if you have it.  It’s best if we match so we can find each other in the crowd.
